Still No Way Out
Foreign national women and trafficked women in the criminal justice system
This report considers the experience of foreign national women and trafficked women in the criminal justice system in England and Wales. The research reveals a picture of inadequate legal representation, poor access to interpreting services, disproportionate punishment, failure to protect victims, isolation, fear, trauma and confusion experienced by the women themselves, with similar repercussions for their children. The briefing brings together research evidence and women’s voices to make a compelling case for change.
