Tommy’s has developed a new digital Miscarriage Support Tool in conjunction with the National Centre for Maternity Improvement and National Centre for Miscarriage Research.
This new tool gives women and birthing people who have experienced one or more miscarriages personalised miscarriage information and support. It aims to make sure families can access information about the tests and treatments they are entitled to, alongside supportive information which can help them to make decisions about trying for pregnancy again.
The tool was developed with support from a steering group of women with lived experience, as well as clinicians, midwives and EPU nurses, and was informed by the RCOG’s community of practice. It uses health data you enter to give the chance of a successful next pregnancy, alongside personalised information about the best practice care and treatments you are entitled to, relevant to your miscarriage history. There is also supportive information about lifestyle factors, and links to mental health resources. Women and birthing people who get a ‘high risk’ result are offered a 1:1 support call with a Tommy’s healthcare professional to discuss their results and next steps.
