Listening to the stories of women who have experienced child removal due to drug and alcohol use
A Listening Project report from MMHA and REFORM
This report from the Maternal Mental Health Alliance (MMHA) and REFORM shares the stories of three women with experience of drug and/or alcohol use and involvement from children's social care during pregnancy and the early days of motherhood. The report aims to shine a light on their experiences and centre their views on what is needed to improve the journey for others walking a similar path.
This report is the first output of the MMHA's Listening Project, and it makes recommendations to improve the care and support of women experiencing substance misuse issues and children's social care involvement during pregnancy, birth and early motherhood.
